Majoring in CAMS was a fantastic experience. The faculty are brilliant, truly concerned about their students, and have a real interest in the courses they teach. As a double major with CAMS and English, I got to see, first-hand, the differences between working with a large department and a much cozier one. The faculty in the CAMS department were always willing to talk with me and the atmosphere in Weaver building was one that I came to enjoy immensely. The department also made it very easy for me to double-major, for my advisors were extraordinarily helpful when it came to selecting classes and planning my studies concurrently with English. The excellence of the faculty also shone when I chose to study abroadtwicewith CAMS programs. Learning material on-site that previously had only been in textbooks was an amazing experience. The programs I participated in, Athens and Rome, gave me the benefit of learning ancient history in its modern location, a blend which turned an already fascinating major into a course of study that completely changed my perspective on my role as an American in today's world. My decision to major in CAMS was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I made as a student at Penn State.
