CAMS Department Faculty and Staff

"As an English major, I found that my Latin classes gave me a great background for understanding the history of the Western literary tradition. I also think that the study of Latin is a great foundation for programs in literature, history, or law. Learning to translate Latin really helped me to focus on the precise arguments of literary and legal texts, which is a skill that has served me well in all my other liberal arts courses. The Latin classes I took were small but filled with motivated, interesting students and my teachers helped me to locate the many resources available online and in the library to understand the historical context of the texts I studied and to produce coherent English translations of them. My Latin classes gave me the atmosphere of a small liberal arts college in the middle of a major research university."
